The Landcare Action Grants Program provides State-funded grant opportunities to co-invest with farmers, Landcare, and other community organisations on practical on-ground works for sustainable agriculture and Rivercare type activities. The scope of the program has now been expanded to include carbon farming initiatives, with the potential to link these activities with the Government's Carbon Farming Advice Rebate.

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) and Landcare Tasmania will deliver the Program on behalf of, and in partnership with, the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE).

The Program is designed to:

  • Improve landscape and riverine health, stability, and resilience.
  • Support enhanced land management practices to reduce erosion and sedimentation.
  • Assist the community to holistically manage natural and productive land and waterways across the landscape; and
  • Provide opportunities for landholders to implement carbon farming initiatives in order to access carbon markets, in particular the Australian Government's Emission Reduction Fund.

To date The Landcare Action Grants has provided over $730,000.00 in funding over three rounds which in turn has resulted in on ground projects to the value of over $1.7m across Tasmania.

The fourth round of funding is now open for applications and will run through until the 25th of February, 2022.

Anyone wishing to have one on one consultation regarding their project and application details, is advised to prepare their project plan and application then contact TFGA to organise a review of your application details.
