A Call for Project Applications: 2021

The Tasmanian Beef Industry Trust is inviting applications to the Trust from individuals, groups or organisations to fund projects that will benefit the Tasmanian beef industry. The call will remain open until August 30, 2021.

The Tasmanian Beef Industry (Research and Development) Trust was established by the Tasmanian Beef Industry (Research and Development) Trust Act 1990, which was amended in 2014.

The Trust manages funds that were collected from beef producers in the 1980’s. The Trust funds research, development and other activities that benefit the Tasmanian beef industry.

In the past the Trust has typically supported projects up to $12,000 per annum, encouraged a co-contribution and limited the number of concurrent projects.

However, if you have great project ideas, we don’t want these conditions to limit them. The Trust has some changes that may interest you.

  • The Trust has removed the funding limit for individual projects. But retain the core requirements of merit, realistic outcomes and value for money. The Trust may have room for your big ideas.
  • The Trust has removed the requirement for co-contribution.
  • The Trust won’t limit the number of applications we consider for funding at any one time.

The past need not guide the future, but some examples of previously funded projects include:

  • A survey of pasture management practices, feed base decision making and the adoption of research and development
  • Reproductive disease surveillance and impact assessment
  • On farm trials comparing trace element treatments
  • Support for training activities engaging students in Agriculture
