Agriculture is an Essential Service

The TFGA is in active discussions with both State and Federal Governments to ensure that the Agricultural Sector is classified as an essential service.

“We are working with Government to ensure that agriculture is recognised for the essential component that it plays in the food supply chain in both Tasmania and Australia more broadly” said Peter Skillern, TFGA CEO. “Tasmanians can rest assured that farmers within this State produce more than enough food for every Tasmanian. Our food supply situation is strong and Tasmanian Farmers will continue to go about their business producing first quality food for our wonderful State.” He added.

The TFGA is confident of the recognition that agriculture plays in both economic terms and underpinning our food supply in this State.
