Agriculture requires stability, says TFGA

26 February 2018

A majority Government, be it Liberal or Labor, would be the best and most stable outcome for Tasmania post this weekend’s election, according to the State’s peak farming organisation.

“At the TFGA we believe that every member of the community will make their own assessment on what has been promised and what is best for their own circumstances, and deliver their verdict accordingly,’’ Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association President Wayne Johnston said.

“However, the TFGA's view is that a majority government, Liberal or Labor, will provide stability and surety for the State’s economy and businesses, including farmers, that operate within it.

“Agriculture needs a stable environment in which farmers can feel comfortable investing and expanding their enterprises. Instability is not conducive to this outcome.”
