Cat Management Plan an important first step

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) has welcomed the Cat Management Plan as an important first step in managing cats in Tasmania.

TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said that the plan to strengthen cat management legislation would ensure that important steps could be taken to deal with a range of issues surrounding cats in the State.

“Feral cats in particular pose a significant threat to livestock, the environment and human health, and these important amendments will help us to better deal with this ongoing threat,’’ Mr Skillern said.

“Cat management is an important policy for the TFGA, and we will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that the State has the best possible system in place.”
