Fruit fly dialogue continues

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) is continuing its dialogue with Biosecurity Tasmania regarding the State’s fruit fly incursion and is receiving regular updates.
“We are pleased to see significant progress in relation to our list of expectation and commend Biosecurity Tasmania for the work undertaken to date,” TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said.
“There is, however, much more to be done to ensure that we eradicate this pest. We need to reassure our markets that we have the capacity to not only eradicate fruit fly but also to ensure no further infestations.
“We reiterate our statement from last week that eradication is the key focus, the who, the how and the what are discussions for later”.
