Irrigation Spray over Roads

11 October 2019

Unexpected water spray onto the roadway can present a potential safety risk to road users.

It is the responsibility of the landowner to prevent the irrigation spray from reaching the roadway, if this not possible and overspray is likely to reach the roadway, advance warning signs should be provided.

The Department of State Growth as the road manager for the State Road network is willing to work with landowners where irrigation overspray on roadways could create a road user risk.

An approval could be arranged for the landowner to install temporary warning signs within the State Road reserve. The purchase of appropriate signs and associated stands would be the responsibility of the landowner.
